The Scituate High School Finance Club is a student organization designed to foster financial literacy, education, and practical skills among its members. It typically hosts a variety of activities, including workshops, seminars, and guest speaker in various related fields (Financial planning, real estate, Investment management) to provide insights into personal finance, investment strategies, and financial planning. Members may engage in investment simulations, participate in research projects, and collaborate on financial planning initiatives. Additionally, Finance Clubs often emphasize community outreach, working to improve financial literacy in their local communities through workshops and educational programs.
The Relief Ridge Financial Wing (RRFW) is an altruistic extension of the club dedicated to philanthropy. The RRFW was conceived as a means to channel our passion for finance into meaningful community impact. At the club, we hold an investopedia game where students use learned concepts to invest fake money and students are ranked on portfolio growth and performance. The unique aspect of these competitions is that they are not just about winning for personal accolades; The victors are given the opportunity to select a charity to receive a donation of $100. This donation is funded through grants that we have successfully secured from the SHORE Foundation. Through this initiative, we are not only developing our financial expertise but also understanding and practicing the importance of giving back to society.
